Locals know Molly Rose Hendricksen as the 17-year-old teen drumming sensation from Vacaville playing under the moniker Molly Rose.

She toured recently with a country band fronted by a female singer.

When time permits, Molly Rose heads to the Santa Cruz beach and boardwalk where she plays her guitar and sings. Her empty guitar case would fill with tips, sometimes earning her up to $100 for a few hours of work, her mother said.

She lists the late Karen Carpenter as her favorite female drummer.

I have gotten used to the feeling of walking into an audition and people not taking me seriously until I play.
