CRYING TIME + THE MUDDY ROSES
707 Marina Vista,
Martinez
“Honky-Tonk and Country Soul”
Crying Time:
Jill Rogers - guitar/ vocals
Myles Boisen - steel guitars
Tony Marcus - fiddle
Tim Rowe - drums
Pete Garellick - bass
Oakland’s Crying Time, playing straight-up country and western
music, from Bob Wills to Glen Campbell with whistle stops in
between. Their original songs sit pretty in the mix - they’re
tunes you might have heard on your daddy's stereo when you were
little.
Jill Rogers is a singer's singer with a 1974 voice and a story to
tell, and Myles Boisen is a hero of juke joint licks on the six
string and lap steel guitars.
Tony Marcus’s fiddle weaves heartbreakingly throughout, and Tim
Rowe (drums) and Smilin’ Pete Garellick (bass) hold down the
rhythm section with swing and grace.
KALX radio says "Country singin' from Oakland standouts. Real
musicians, not just stompers. Jill Rogers is an amazing singer.
Just plain beautiful.”
The Muddy Roses:
Liz Lewis - vocals
John LoGiudici - guitar/ vocals
Diana Greenberg - fiddle
The Muddy Roses follow with music that hurts so good - like that
old, inextinguishable flame or your first taste of rye, with a
tangible burn that settles into your gut and makes you feel warm
all over.
"We love our sad songs," says Liz Lewis, a self-proclaimed "West
Vir-tuckian" and the vocal bombshell behind this heartbreak
machine. The San Francisco-based band, which consists of three
primary collaborators - Lewis (vocals), John LoGiudici (guitar &
vocals), and Diana Greenberg (fiddle), has a knack for churning
out homemade, destined-to-be classics that would make George
Jones weep.
